Faint hope denied again

This is a good thing.

Colin Thatcher had his bid for early release denied Wednesday after again refusing to admit to killing his wife.

It’s too bad so many of his victim’s relatives have to waste their time annually to participate in this charade.

Savages II

hanging.jpg style=border-style:solid; border-color: yellow width=410 height=269

Iraqis chant anti-American slogans as charred bodies hang from a bridge over the Euphrates River in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, Wednesday, March 31 2004. Enraged Iraqis in this hotbed of anti-Americanism killed four foreigners Wednesday, including at least one U.S. national, took the charred bodies from a burning SUV, dragged them through the streets, and hung them from the bridge. Now that’s obscene

How hypocritical that Clear Channel thinks that Stern is obscene, and then go to sign this hate-inciting, racist clown.

Clear Channel Radio and the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr. today announced that the Rev. Jackson will host of a live, one-hour talk show airing Sundays from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Central time (8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Eastern). Keep Hope Alive(tm) With the Rev. Jesse Jackson will debut April 4 exclusively on Clear Channel Radio stations and will originate from Chicago’s WGCI-AM.

Hope he doesn’t attack Bush while on the air…

Savages

Makes you wonder why the Americans even bother with these animals.  There’s still a lot of work to do, obviously.

Jubilant residents dragged the charred corpses of four foreign contractors - one a woman, at least one an American - through the streets today and hanged them from the bridge spanning the Euphrates River. Five American soldiers died in a roadside bombing nearby.

Advice for Paul Martin

Henry Ford was a wise man.

You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.

Transit bull

Anyone impressed with the Liberal show of giving Toronto back some of its tax money needs to know that McSquinty is giving less than Mike Harris promised.  Blizzard has a column on the limousine Liberals, who are too good for the bus apparently.

There was a moment of delicious irony at the end of yesterday’s Liberal group hug about public transit.

The TTC does need money, but it also needs a new way of doing business..  The unions run the place, and as much as I wouldn’t want to be a bus driver in this day and age of disrespect, they tell the management how to run the place.  Speaking of management, it’s bloated too and needs a new structure (how about competition) to function as a modern business does.  The TTC is like health: a sponge that absorbs an unlimited amount of tax dollars, with no real visible manifestation of the money spent.

No wonder

No wonder Toronto mayors are drooling over photo radar.

The number of traffic tickets issued annually in Winnipeg after photo radar was introduced skyrocketed from fewer than 13,000 to 170,000—an increase of 1,300%. Civic leaders across the GTA want the province to give them the power to implement photo radar.

Ya, it’s about safety.

Something’s going on

Am I the only one who thinks there is something very fishy with Cecilia’s disappearance?  Some of the facts are just too strange.

Whoever snatched and murdered Cecilia Zhang not only knew the home’s layout, but also that the little girl had given up her bedroom to her visiting grandfather and was asleep in a guest room...- Cecilia was not picked at random by a stranger and was wearing only her underwear when she was snatched.

If it was an inside job, then the police are doing parents everywhere a big dis-service by making it seem like this was a random job.  It clearly was not.

You’re fired?

Seems the reality for reality series star Donald Trump may be a little too real.

Barring a bailout, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts may not be able to continue as a “going concern,” auditors for Ernst & Young LLP warned in a letter to the company’s board of directors.

The debt-laden company, which runs three Atlantic City casinos, is struggling under stiff competition, recurring operating losses and what had a working capital deficit as of Dec. 31, 2003, the auditors said.

Motorist miracle

There are a million stories in the driving wars - some turn out well.

Ed Theisen’s body was blocked from view by Gulf Freeway traffic barricades in this Houston suburb. The 46-year-old survived a night alone on the concrete, unable to move or summon help.

Crouton Quotes

I am convinced Canadians voted for this man mainly because there was no-one else to vote for.  The other reason was no matter what he said, Canadians felt they were smarter than him.

“That’s a problem that existed when I was there. That’s nothing new. It’s a problem of accounting,” ... “And if somebody has done something wrong with that — I have said it 300 times in the House — put them in jail.” ... “I am not a fault-finder. I am a doer.”...“I do not reply to political questions. A minister is a minister,”

French fried

More fodder for Federal bashers, this time about a report that tells us what we already know about the tax-uum of Ottawa.

Fair enough, except that Adam goes on to state that past studies and surveys - confirmed by her latest findings - show French is underused in the civil service because the civil service culture, she says, is predominantly English.

Ministry of Futile

From the We Don’t Give Up/Get it file, comes the PC Party.

The PC Party lives, for now.
But it needs 50 progressive Canadians to keep alive vote-splitting on the right.

Sopranos update

Did you see the Sopranos last nite?  It’s slowly building up the storylines.  Take a look at Slate magazine’s summaries with two gangland reporters’ takes on it.

I’ve had a hard time so far with this season’s focus, but being a die-hard fan, I am being patient.  I think I will be rewarded, as each episode is gradually getting better than the last one.

Northern rust belt

A good summary of why we need nuclear energy, and we need to start building now.

Nuclear power is essentially non-polluting; has high Canadian content; has manageable operating costs; and has virtually unlimited indigenous fuel sources.

How big’s yours?

An interesting post on family size ... personally, my ideal # is 3 kids, wife willing.

It’s interestng to note that in the last 30 years, American attitudes about family size have changed, with most people now thinking 2 or 3 kids is the appropriate family size, whereas prior to the ‘70s most people thought 3-4 was ideal.

Sickening

It just doesn’t get any worse than this.

The remains of Cecilia Zhang was found by a hiker in a ravine near Toronto. The nine-year-old girl was taken from her family home last October 20, 2003.

It will be interesting if the police can crack this one.

Everybody’s doing it

Not even being old keeps people from growing it.

Nealenews is back

Obviously, too many people like and use Nealenews for it to stay away.

Good News! We’re back and we want to thank you for all the wonderful emails of encouragement.

Adding a few ads will help too I’m sure to pay for the bandwidth.  Just make them popup so I can squish them.

Bush ducks lining up

Instapundit links that the dictators are lining up to comply - thanks to Bush.

SYRIA has appealed to Australia to use its close ties with Washington to help the Arab nation shake off its reputation as a terrorist haven and repair its relations with the US.

Our jackass Premier

Noguru doesn’t like Dalton.  Dalton will soon learn that pleasing everyone just ain’t possible when running a province.

I did not vote for this jackass Dalton McGuinty

Pissing over the line

Well, maybe this guy did cross the line...strangely, the CRTC is rarely heard from these days like their cousin, the FCC on these matters.

Canadian radio station The Edge, 102.1 FM, has suspended radio show hosts Dean Blundell

One ton of s**t

Stupid Angry Canadian discusses the government’s latest waste of money.

Amazing. Hot on the heels of various revelations into the skill with which our government can waste money, we are being urged to fight climate change. I’m all for fighting climate change.

Firefox

Thought I’d let everyone know that I am trying out Firefox ... and liking it.

IE6 domination has killed innovation.  Hopefully people trying and liking Firefox will change that.
