Mega mosque

Mark writes they’re building a mega mosque next to the new London Olympic stadium.  He bets the mosque will be built on time and on budget, and paid for, long before the government run stadium.  That’s saying something.

Another year or two, and Londoners may be wishing they could sub-contract the entire Olympics to Tablighi Jamaat.

Why I like Mike

Thank you, inquiry, for reminding me why I liked Mike Harris so much.

Mike Harris angrily told senior Cabinet Ministers and two police officers, “I want the f------ Indians out of the park,” a public inquiry heard today.

The bombshell came on the second day

It’s too bad we won’t see him anytime soon on the political scene.

Where’s Coren

Interesting that it’s the religious sites that are all wondering where Coren’s gone.  I sent Coren an email (he responds very quickly) with my support.  It’s not clear where he’s going to land - I suggested satellite radio - probably not Sirius, as Slaight has a piece of it.

“LifeSiteNews.com spoke with CFRB General Manager Pat Holiday about the matter. Holiday claimed that Coren’s dismissal had nothing to do with his views. ‘It had nothing to do with free speech or religion,’ he said. Holiday admitted that Coren’s was a popular show and stressed that the dismissal was not planned.

Eric on the French riots

I read his article on the source of the uprising in France.  He fails to mention that if hopelessness and unemployment are tinder of the fire, than the gas on the fire is Islamofacism.  Like Nazi-ism, all extremisms fill a void.

lgf: Breaking: Hollywood Star Notices Reality

This entry at lgf is too funny.

ohnny Depp is appalled by the behavior of the hoi polloi, and wants to leave France...Maybe he should move to the completely crime-free environment of Saudi Arabia.

God I am sick of hearing of star opinions.

You can’t make this up

The studies justifying the kennelization of children are getting ridiculous.

A new study reveals that children who spent more time in daycare were protected from their mothers’ emotional exhaustion.

Gotta love technology

Just finished listening to the radio to an old 80s song - weren’t the 80s the best decade for music?

Anyway, I didn’t know the name of the song, and since the radio station doesn’t tell you what you’re listening to, I dialed #DJ on my Fido phone, and paid a dollar to get the name text-messaged to me.

I then went to puretracks.com and downloaded the song for $1.98.

Then, I wanted to learn more of the song and its lyrics.  Quickly googled, and in comes the info.

Bottom line - record company/artist wins, and so do I.  So why are they all complaining?  My transaction must have been 99% profit, since no humans were involved.

Update:Go to this link to bypass a frustration I just ran into when trying to play the same song on my other laptop.  Clearly, puretracks doesn’t quite have it right.

Paris is burning

A great Mark’s mailbox with some real gems:

The Lord giveth:

The liberal media finally gets what it’s been clamouring for for years, ie the Arab street going berserk.

And He taketh away:

They can’t pin it on Bush

Tough luck, suckers.

MINISTER FOR LOST CAUSES
From the AP report on the 7’th night of rioting by the RoP in Paris – we have:

“Minister of Social Cohesion Jean-Louis Borloo said the government had to react ‘firmly’ but added that France must also acknowledge its failure to have dealt with anger simmering in poor suburbs for decades.”

I think we can safely conclude France is lost when they even have a Minister of Social Cohesion.  The concept that government shall be the instrument of social cohesion, oh my, how lost.

No chance with a cokehead

Mark writes that there is little chance of Quebec ever succeeding as its own nation, especially with potential leaders like Mr. Boisclair.

That’s the real question: how come Latvia, Slovenia and even East Timor have made a go of it but one of the world’s oldest secession movements perpetually seeks refuge in ever more bogus obstacles to what would be a very viable independence?

One way to come at the answer is to look at the current frontrunner for the leadership of the Parti Qubcois. He’s a fellow called Andr Boisclair, and, if you don’t follow Pquiste politics closely, he’s the gay cokehead in the race.

Just the beginning

Mark says the nightly Paris car-B-Qs are just the start of a Europe wide uprising - barbarians aren’t at the gate, they’re within the gate.

But, whether in turbans or gangsta threads, just as Communism was in its day, so Islam is today’s ideology of choice for the world’s disaffected.

Will Canada be willing to let in all the fleeing non-Muslims?

Too late for France

Fred says that it’s too late for France, but at least he has an idea as good as any to stop the jihad.

What the French need to do, but won’t, is to send the army into the Islamic slums, round up the whole lot, and put them ashore on the beaches of North Africa with a box lunch and a coupon for three free Dunkin Donuts. It isn’t a pretty answer. It’s a lot prettier than what seems to be coming down the pike.

Dark Ages are nigh

Mark says his predictions of the erupting Arab street were off a few years.

Ever since 9/11, I’ve been gloomily predicting the European powder keg’s about to go up.

History repeating itself

The Eurabian intifada has begun, and France has a choice, according to David Warren. Appease it or defeat it.

As readers of the North American papers are beginning to learn, at least 20 urban districts in France (mostly around Paris) have gone up in flames.

Hybrid bunk

Wente drools (click Here Me Roar) over the latest yuppy craze: hybrids.  Never mind that they don’t actually save much fuel.

So who am I to break the news that these hybrids might be a bit of a scam?

For example, that fabulous fuel efficiency they promise you can seldom be achieved by real people driving on real roads

Price of a baby

You probably won’t hear much protest about this latest ridiculous sentence, but it sure is clear that the closer a human is to just a foetus, the less value its life has to Canadian judges.

A Court of Queen’s Bench justice sentenced 23-year-old Nicole Anderwald to 90 days for neglect and another 40 days for disposing of the infant.

Of course, this has nothing to do with abortion on demand.

Activist weatherman

It seems just forecasting the weather isn’t enough for David.  He just can’t stop beating the Kyoto drum.  It’s getting tired, Dave.  Put a lid on it and keep guessing the weather.

Canadians can expect to be living in a much different environment in the near future as the earth’s temperature continues to rise and climate change becomes more linked to wild weather, says a senior climatologist.
