War on Drugs Raging
Wow, I’m all for stiff sentences, but here’s a wake up call for anyone carrying more than an aspirin into the US.
The minimum sentence for that quantity of drugs in Illinois is 30 years. The maximum is 120 years.
I don’t think anyone in a Canadian jail has served a sentence like that in 100 years.

GPS can be dangerous
I finally bought one, and have to admit that articles like this make me nervous about following it to closely.
In another example of the evils of computer navigation, a 37-year-old trucker followed his GPS directions to their totally illogical conclusion when he drove his truck down a pedestrian walkway and wedged the delivery vehicle into a cherry tree.
My GPS has taken me down many crescents unnecessarily...I have to admit, I prefer using my map book. The only real advantage to the gps unit is night driving, when it’s hard to see street signs.
Tammy Faye Messner dies
I’m not sure why this is so upsetting to me...but it is.
Tammy Faye Messner, the former televangelist and Christian singer who battled drug addiction and later inoperable cancer, died Friday morning, CNN’s Larry King said Saturday night. He said the family had asked him to make the delayed announcement.

The Dilbert Blog: Hypnosis
One of my favorite bloggers on hypnosis.
When I was a kid, my family doctor was a hypnotist. He hypnotized my mom before she gave birth to my little sister. Mom reports that she felt no discomfort during the birth, despite being awake and having no drugs. That story had a big impact on me.

How many more?
If this doesn’t make you wonder what on earth our young men with young families are doing over there, I don’t know what will.
Matthew Dawe, 27, reaches for his son, Lucas, 1, at CFB Edmonton in February. Dawe, five other soldiers and an Afghan interpreter were killed yesterday.
If we’re going to send our country’s future over to help rebuild a nearly irreparable country, can’t we at least give them some decent equipment? Since most seem to be blown up in roadside bombs, why are they not traveling around in something bomb proof, say, perhaps a tank?
If we don’t have the equipment to travel around safely, then perhaps we should find another way to keep the peace over there. The human cost is just not worth it.
