Hi, guys just to let you know that I have a Pontiac Montana 2001 with 92k and the same problem as both of you intake mainfold was leaking Dex Cool into the engine. Know now what GM repair all the 2 gasket under a new special warranty for 100$ deductible. GM also ask for a complete dexcool flush at 159,95$ where they clean the radiator and new dexcool and change the thermostatand change oil free !! (if you don’t done it yet). Total was 259,95$ for all the job done perfect with me. Tips when you go to the dealer don’t act normal be unhappy and ask the dealerto contact GM manager. Good luck.

Yes, I’m now replacing my head gasket for the second time with 171,000 mile.  As a second note, does anyone know how to repair or replace the grille inserts on a 1997 Pontiac Transport?  Only one screw holds it in place, when that breaks, the insert falls out.

Interesting Fact:  My 2000 Astro and my Mom’s 2000 Impala which have BOTH had MAJOR, MAJOR PROBLEMS were BOTH made in CANADA........what were our neighbors doing that year....?  Asleep at the wheel.....?

2000 Chevy ASTRO AWD 4.3Ltr............I forgot to mention that compared to my ‘95 this is the BIGGEST PIECE OF **** I have EVER OWNED....!!

Talk about a Lemon........BEWARE of sliding door held on by two screws on top slider, Yesterday when opening the door it came FLYING OFF........!!

Who made this piece of **** I am driving......NEVER another CHEVY product again.!!

GOING back to MOPAR.......’68 Dodge Dart in my garage will be my NEW ride this year........screw GM !!

I unfortunately made the swap to Chevy products in 1989 and have had five new since then.  My ‘95 4.3v6 Astro AWD was, next to my ‘71Plymouth Sattelite the 2nd best vehicle I have owned.  So in 2000, I walked into the dealer who had same van(so I thought) said I will take that one, we made the deal and the salesman I have dealt with and so many people I know have dealt with said I needed to drive the van.  I said no, just write it up....HE MADE ME drive the van, so I did around the building got out signed paperwork and he just shook his head.  Two weeks later I realized this was the biggest piece of CRAP I have ever owned.  Now on my 2nd Jasper new complete engine I am confronted with another problem I can’t figure out.  Starter will only work intermittently and clicks, clicks, clicks as if not enough pwr. New Battery, new alternator, plenty of Amps/Volts etc, not the key......what a piece of crap this is.  I should have kept my ‘95 that had NO PROBLEMS and 135,000miles on it and ran strong.  This van I can’t begin to list the problems, I am on my 4th set of rotors!  Brake pads......? who knows, every 4 months or so, front end parts......endless I should have known after several months the entire drivers side drive unit needed replacing!  BY THE WAY, 4.3 Ltr CHEVY ENGINES YEAR 2000+/- HAVE GASKET LEAKAGE PROBLEMS CAUSING COOLANT TO FILL ENGINE CRANKCASE....!  BEWARE!
Oh yes, My Mom’s 2000 Impala bought same place(no fault of salesman) she is on 2nd transmission, 2nd front wheel drive unit, faulty brake lines which ruptured while stopping quickly, numerous glass issues........Were GM workers sleeping in 2000 or what....?

this is to rich slater. although i own 3 gm vehicles and work at a gm dealer, i dont swear by gm. all manufactures have similar policies when it comes to certain model vehilces. if you like gm then great. i agree with you when you, when people with gms have problems and then start bitching about how bad the product is, well thats because they dont know anything. japanese cars are very expensive to maintain, the parts alone will cost you a leg. common problems with the 3800 series 2 engine in your 2000 park ave incl. valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gasket, oil pan, rear main seal. all those engine will leak, but every engine on the planet requires maintenance.

I’ve driven a 2000 Buick Park Avenue for 80,000 miles with NO problems. I’m sick of these people who run the crap out of vehicles with NO regular maintenance and cop out to buying Jap Crap and swooning over the claim that they have had no problems since the purchase. Quit maintaining the Gross National Product of some foreign asian country and BUY AMERICAN!!!!

I bought a 2000 Montana in Oct 2003. One week later I discovered that the intake mainfold was leaking Dex Cool into the engine. After I bitched at Gm,they fixed it for $400.00. One month later the six cylinder was not firing and engine was making a loud noise. The engine had to be replaced at a cost of $6700.00. Called GM again.They did nothing for me. Last week I found out that the new engine was leaking again at 63k. O fcourse it is out of warranty. I checked the bolts on the lower intake manifold and to my surprise...they were loose. Is this some kind of sick joke. I have techs saying that it is not their fault but GM. Well it was the dealerthat installed that gasket on the new engine. No thread lock on the bolts.
