Un-sound story

Obviously common sense wasn’t part of the pageant that Miss Deaf Texas won.

The reigning Miss Deaf Texas died Monday afternoon after being struck by a train, officials said.

An ideal candidate

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Darwin candidate.

An 82-year-old man was “determined” and “bullheaded” last week when he tried to use a household vacuum cleaner to siphon gas from his car while the engine was still running, family members said. But he wasn’t senile.

Boxcar strikes back

The punishment seems a bit harsh, but he was defacing private property on private property.

On Tuesday night, Alpha marked the end of everything for young Mr. Zargham. At about 9:45 p.m., right after he tagged a parked freight car with baby-blue spray paint, he was struck dead by a train near Dupont and Christie streets.

Always unplug

More proof that it’s always a good idea to unplug any electrical device that you are working on.

A plumber working on a house in Frankley was trapped on Thursday by an electric toilet, whilst trying to repair it.

Robbing the wrong guy

No-one said robbers have to be smart.

The experience, during which he said he thought he and the others might be killed, left him counting his blessings that he was able to react like he did and not remain a victim.

“I just did what I had to do. When he came in here with a shotgun and no mask on his face I didn’t think he planned to leave any survivors,” Shema said.

In Canada, the store owner would probably be charged.

Shocking news

Hard to feel sorry for this guy.

A would-be robber was electrocuted while trying to cut high-voltage wires during an attempted break-in at a convenience store early Saturday.

No parking lane

A gentle remind to my mobile readers: parking in a live lane on the world’s busiest hiway at night can be lethal.

“The victim parked his white Pontiac in the right-hand live lane. A good Samaritan apparently stopped for help and warned the Pontiac driver that he was parked in a dangerous spot,” Woolley said.

The cruel reality is that Darwin was right.

Nailed

Time to take a break from the depressing world of Osama and find out how the mentally challenged are making out.

Somerset County Lt. Pierre Boucher said the man took two pieces of wood, nailed them together in the form of a cross and placed them on his living-room floor. He attached a note saying “suicide” to the wood and then proceeded to nail one of his hands to the makeshift cross using a 14-penny nail and a hammer.
“When he realized that he was unable to nail his other hand to the board, he called 911,” said Boucher. It was unclear whether the man was seeking assistance for his injury or help in nailing his other hand down.

Moral of the story is always take a friend when attempting crucifixion.  Mel Gibson was unavailable for comment.

Nice try

fakemillbill.jpg style=border-style:solid;border-right-width: 20px; border-color: green align=left width=200 height=84 Thank goodness they hire smart people over at Wal-Mart.

A woman was caught trying to use a fake $1 million bill to buy $1,675 worth of merchandise at a Wal-Mart, and was later found with two more of the bills in her purse, police said.

I wonder what the IQ of this felon is?  40?

Bad celebrity parenting

I like Vinay’s take on the Bob/Steve Irwin croc incident.

A brand new year and already so much idiocy...For his part, Irwin seemed shocked by the shock.

Michael Jackson’s mate

Hey may be blond and good looking, unlike MJ, but apparently he has the same reckless disregard for the safety of his child.

Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin may face a police investigation for holding his month-old baby son a few feet away from the mouth of a crocodile at his Queensland zoo.

Why is it that…

...the dog always lives in these situtations?

A man and his son drowned Monday night after the son tried to drown their dog. It happened near the city of Eudora, just outside of city limits. Police say the son fell into a pit full of water inside an old cotton gin and the father went in after him.

Obviously the euthanasia charges at the vet are getting unaffordable in Arkansas.

Winner gets death prize

We inaugurate the Darwin category with this story of the winner of a drinking contest who died, well, of alcohol poisoning.  Laughably, the main prize was 10 bottles.  So if the contest didn’t kill him, the prize may have.

A vodka-drinking competition in a southern Russian town ended in tragedy with the winner dead and several runners-up in intensive care.
