Stand on Guard for?

Your dose of the great one here… discussing how the Canadian government does more for its terrorists than its defenceless photographers.  In a word: pitiful.

On hearing of her death, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed his “sadness” and “regret”.

Would it have killed him to express a little anger and disgust? After all, the mullahs will be lucky to be in business by year’s end: this is a terminal regime even Canadians should have figured isn’t worth kissing up to.

Sodomites explained

Mark summarizes the fastest social revolution in the history of man: the rise of the sodomites.

Personally, I’m relaxed about sodomy, which isn’t the same as being relaxed during sodomy. But one does one’s best to keep up with the times. I use the word ‘’sodomy,’’ incidentally, mainly because I still can.

Come back!

The readership at SteynOnline is getting angry at Steyn for leaving the Post.  They see it as his obligation to come back and start writing on the transgressions of Canadian politicians.

ROT IN HELL, TRAITOR
I am really ticked off that you appear to have deserted Canada. We need writers such as yourself more than ever. Do you only write for money? If so, you will no doubt rot in Hell like the lefties you rail against. Canada needs a strong conservative voice to straighten this country out.

1 Party State

More gems from the Steyn archive - here’s a beauty on the one party state called Canada.  That puts us in the same league as the African tinpot dictatorships.  No wonder Chretien is so worried about Bush removing ...

Which is the world we live in. Intra-Liberal democracy means a choice between those who think the state’s entitled to 50% of your money and those who think it should be 60%, those who think there’s nothing wrong with the health system another two billion won’t cure and those who think it needs at least another four,

Happy Playmate Day

Mark wishes everyone a Happy Canada Day - from 1999 however.

Happy Canada Day. In the United States, they have Independence Day; in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day; in France, Bastille Day; in Serbia, Genocidal Whacko Appreciation Day. But here in Canada we need a Day to remind us that we’re in Canada.

His website also notes that he is officially not at the Post now.

Steyn Box

More clues surface in Mark’s Mailbox that he has left the Post...I hope he lands somewhere so we can get some Canadian content to his writings…

THE BRUTAL AFGHAN WINTER HITS DON MILLS
Is it true? Have you given up on Canada?

How it really is

The brilliant Steyn on how things really are in Iraq.

On Monday the Daily Telegraph gave a big chunk of its comment-page real estate to Mr Will Day of something called Care International. I’ve never heard of it myself but doubtless that’s because I’m a fully paid-up member of Don’t Care Unilateral. Anyway, the headline on Mr Day’s column read: ‘Things Are Getting Worse In Iraq, So Give The UN A Chance’.

Hillary Not Unveiled

Mark on the new Hillary yawner, Living History (Cdn$ buyers)

Who is Hillary Rodham Clinton? We all know her husband. He’s a hard guy to be non-intimate with. Early in his presidency, he was asked on TV what kind of underwear he wore and chatted away merrily about how he mostly preferred boxers but occasionally wore briefs.

Rebuild locally

Steyn’s back with advice on how to rebuild Iraq.  A new Canada could take some lessons: decentralization as espoused by the Canadian Alliance.

That’s why I’m relatively relaxed about the decision of the American proconsul, Paul Bremer, to postpone for at least a month the big confab of Iraqi politicians. It’s right that Iraq should be run by its own people, but national politics is no place to start. It’s easy to imagine an Iraq with three regional parliaments in Mosul, Baghdad and Basra, harder to foresee a single legislature filled by members of nationwide parties.

Back, from Iraq

Mark’s back and writing from Iraq.

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks on a motoring tour of western and northern Iraq, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Good to see that someone is telling the truth from the front.

Steyn Interview

Hero to bloggers everywhere, Enterstageright has an interview with The one-man global content provider, Mark Steyn.

First, thanks very much for joining us despite our waffling on allowing you to pose nude for ESR’s cover.
Now that the U.S.-led coalition has won in Iraq, what do you think the next step in the war on terrorism is?
