Moving to WP?
Well, it’s possible. WP is amazing, and we’re going to try it for a while.
Come on over here!

Use RSS and win
I haven’t mentioned this in ages, but if you read more than a few blogs, including this one, of course, you should be using Bloglines, the world’s best web-based RSS reader.
Click the button below to subscribe to this blog, and bloglines.
It’s amazing how quickly you can read 10 blogs...without the hassle of going to 10 sites. What you lose in style you gain in speed.

Fundraising
I don’t hardly ever try and raise money via this web site, since it wouldn’t be enough to buy a hamburger over a year. However, I like to tell people about great programs that I use - and if you decide to as well, I do get a bit of a spiff.

Gone fishing…
I am always annoyed at bloggers that think they are so important that they find it necessary to post notices that they’re going to the bathroom and you won’t see a post for 10 minutes. Then again, I’ve read that that’s it’s bad form to just disappear for a week, or only post the odd entry and leave the loyal reader wondering.
I am now at the lake and can only find a 19.2 connection...so for your information, both of you, posting will be sporadic. Just like the news.

Work in Progress
As you may have noticed, things are looking different here today. The only way I could make the switch to EE is to actually do it before everything was perfectly ready, otherwise I was content not to do it. So links on the side may not work as I iron things out.

Expression Engine
I am slowly transferring this site to EE. Time has been hard to come by lately, but I was lucky enough to get a copy for free from EE so I am trying to get things switched over asap.
Look who came to town
Just converted my cell service to City Fido.
Clearly, the landline boys and the other cell carriers need to worry. This is good news for high end cell users like myself.

Revolution happening
A revolution is occurring in WiFi - and the old phone companies don’t like it.
Oh you just have to love what is happening here. Hospitals are taking their communications infrastructure into their own damn hands… Good for em! You better pray that those WiFi routers switching the voice calls don’t go down…

Mobile computing
To prepare for being on the road and out of the office, I’ve purchased a Fido World Card.
I am hoping that this thing works quickly and seamlessly, and everywhere in the GTA. Anyone with experience with this card and laptop, please comment.
I’ve also signed up for the unlimited data at $50/month. No other carrier seems to come close to touching this deal. Fido may be #4, but it certainly has the best value in its plans. Let’s hope the coverage is as good.

Impart some knowledge
This is a rather communist/communal idea, but it sure is a good way to get current information.
Welcome to Wikipedia! We are building an open-content encyclopedia in many languages. We started in January 2001 and are now working on 256448 articles in the English version. Browse Wikipedia, visit our Community Portal and sandbox to learn how to edit articles yourself, and take a look at our sister projects.
I even edited an entry. It didn’t hurt, and took minutes. Try it!

Good programs
Did I mention lately how excited I am about my two latest software finds?
One is
Bloglines, an excellent, web based RSS reader that makes keeping tracking with (I’ve got 82 so far) sources a breeze.
The other is Mozilla Firefox .8, a terrific, lean, and fast browser that makes me wonder why I have been wasting time with IE6. Do you remember before IE dominated and AOL took over Netscape how many times you upgraded browsers, with new and exciting features? That was a long time ago. Now we have extensions, so we have new innovative features to play around with again.

Firefox
Thought I’d let everyone know that I am trying out Firefox ... and liking it.
IE6 domination has killed innovation. Hopefully people trying and liking Firefox will change that.

Bloglines
Forget http://www.blogrolling.com, try Bloglines. It’s a great way to read your favorite blogs’ new stuff, especially if you can’t install software on your work’s computers.
Bloglines is a free service that makes it easy to keep up with your favorite blogs and newsfeeds.
For all you bloggers without an rss feed - get some real blog software. Your readers will thank you.

Welcome Langalist users
Well, it’s true. Fred’s Langalist has a lot of readers, and many of them are following Fred’s load the code links. I must admit I never really bothered with the links, but do read his great newsletter. Hardly a week goes by that I don’t use one of his many Windoze tips. Why, I just recently adjusted my ie cache to 10megs on his advice. Not sure if it is helping, however.
Welcome Langalist users!
(if you are not a langalist reader, click the code on the left sidebar (scroll down) and sign up)

Excelling Fisking
Discovered a very good Canadian fisker, as you can see here.
The Canadian cultural and media elite continually craves affirmation; also being generally of a certain common generation and political disposition, they pathologically need to cast themselves as morally superior insurrectionists against their parents.
Welcome to my blogroll, LIB!

Links
Found a few links today surfing away.
Paul Martin Times - that Paul Martin wants shut down. Should increase its popularity 1000%.
Gender Genie guesses the sex of the author.
Both links from the BoingBoing Blog, which I have now blogrolled.

Emoticons
As you may have noticed, I have added emoticons to the board for your visual stimulation; unfortunately, I cannot get the popup window to work right yet for you to add them easily to your comments.
You can add most by simply typing the strings below...I add more as I find them. I particularly like animated ones, so if you find any, please email them to me.
Here are a few you can use:

The UN is Evil
An interesting anti-UN website for your perusal, found as a link on Canadian Comment Blog, whom I found via http://www.technorati.com
It’s amazing how links work.

Referrer log spam
If there is anyone out there who knows how to fix the LGF referrer log script so that it stops accepting spam links from the pRon sites, let me know.
It’s very aggravating! Surely there must be a way. Someone mentioned linking it to the images on your page.

Right On! Blog Backup
Since Hostingmatters was cacking again yesterday, I wrote a few entries over here.
Feel free to bookmark the backup page if you are that interested in what I have to say.

Relative Font Sizing
I redid my style sheet for all those who need bigger fonts to read my blog. I got the info here ... so now if you cannot read my blog properly you can use your view/text size/larger menu items in explorer to enlarge the text.
This is a minor thing for most people - I only discovered the need when my 97 year old grandfather said he couldn’t read the pages of my blog that I faxed to him.
Right On! Backup
Would you please bookmark our backup site? With this week’s outage courtesy of Al Quaeda terrorists, we need another spot to reach you.
This is Right On! Blog’s new backup site. Since Hostingmatters was attacked last week, it seems like a good idea. I got it from Glenn at Instapundit.

MS Net Patch
I am only posting this courtesy message to all because I have received the same “Newest Net Patch” from “Microsoft” at least 100 times in the last 2 days. It’s a very authentic looking email complete with instructions and a 156k file to run.
Needless to say, it’s obviously a virus. Delete it at once.
Microsoft Partner
this is the latest version of security update, the “September 2003, Cumulative Patch” update which fixes all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express as well as three newly discovered vulnerabilities.
Update:This bulletin explains it all. I am now getting 1 email every 5 minutes. A tidal wave!
If you want my recommendation, remove MS Outlook from your system. Use Pegasus Mail instead. It’s even free.
